Dr. Carraway received his AB and MD degrees from UNC—Chapel Hill, completed his residency in psychiatry at UNC Hospitals/The North Carolina Memorial Hospital, and completed a visiting post residency fellowship in Electroconvulsive Therapy from Duke University. Additionally, he has completed post graduate training in Oriental Medicine, including acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, from the Academy of Pain Research in San Francisco. Dr. Carraway is a Diplomate of The American Board of Psychiatry and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine—London.
Dr. Carraway has held appointments at UNC—Chapel Hill as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry, and Assistant Residency Training Director. He has served as the Associate Director of Adult Psychiatry for Dorothea Dix Hospital, and he has been a psychiatric consultant with numerous community mental health centers throughout the states of North Carolina and South Carolina.
Dr. Carraway has maintained a private psychiatric practice since 1988 focusing on holistic health, forensic psychiatry, and independent peer review.
